NovaCork flooring is one of the most environmentally friendly materials and it is produced from a renewable resource and has been used as flooring since the 1800's. Cork comes from the bark of the cork tree indigenous to Spain and Portugal. Every eight to ten years the bark if the cork tree is stripped from the trunks (the tree is never felled) and ground into granules that are compressed with special glues at high pressure into sheets. By burning the cork before compression and varying the granule size, creates the different colors and patterns.

Cork flooring provides natural noise insulation because of the over 100 million air cells or pockets per cubic inch of cork. These built in shock and sound absorbers make cork an excellent sound deadening material. Cork flooring is also hypoallergenic; this makes it a wonderful choice for people with allergies or a commercial application.
