Tongue and Groove
Installation Instructions:

BEFORE YOU BEGIN: Materials required: PE sheeting as a vapor seal, tape and adhesive. Tools Required: Folding rule (tape measure), pencil, compass saw or straight back hand saw, hammer, cramping tool, setting lath, tapping block, spacing wedges.

STEP 1: Align the first row of planks exactly using the spacing wedge. The strips are laid with the groove pointing towards the wall, glue on the front and then driven together using the cramping tool. The distance between the wall and all solid fixed elements must be about 3/8" (10mm) (in larger rooms at least 1/16" (1.5mm) per yard of room width) and is set using spacing wedges. The wedges must be removed once the floor has been completely laid. The planks should be laid lengthwise to the incoming light. The exception: when installing over exisiting wood plank flooring the linoleum must be laid at right angels to the direction of the existing floor. Use a waterproof casein glue like parguet glue D3. Use the glue bottle with the pointed cap to apply a thin even coating onto the underside of the upper face of the tongue. If necessary, remove any excess glue coming out of the groove using a damp cloth.

STEP 2: After the first row has been installed exactly using the setting lath. Use the left over part of the last plank installed in the previous row to begin the next. The front joints (end joints) from row to row must be staggered by at lease 12" (30cm). Use a tapping block or a scrap piece of flooring when joining the planks together to avoid any damage occuring.

STEP 3: Where there are heating pipes coming out of the floor cut around pipes allowing for expansion. Then cover with radiator rosettes.

STEP 4: As shown in the diagram (below), shorten door frames and doors to the height of the floor.

STEP 5: Fitting the last row: measure distance left (taking into account the wedge space) between the wall and the last row installed. Mark and cut the strip to be installed lengthwise. Glue and fit as before.

STEP 6: The last row is driven in using the cramping tool.

STEP 7: Skirting boards, transition strips for completing your floor. Felt for table and chair leg bottoms are important details to protect your new floor. Your specialist dealer will help you with any advice you need and has a wide range of products available.
